David’s Story – Aliyah and Absorption
A paediatrician by profession, David chose to move to Israel out of a deep sense of mission and a desire to contribute to the country’s healthcare system. Although he could have continued his established career in France, he preferred a path rooted in values and meaning—becoming an integral part of Israeli society and treating children in the Jewish state.
David’s mother is Israeli, and from a young age, he grew up hearing at home about the strong connection to Israel. The values he absorbed, along with the ideals he learned to appreciate, made his decision to make Aliyah feel natural. Today, he studies at Ulpan Etzion in Jerusalem, dedicating himself to learning the language so he can fully integrate and communicate warmly and directly with his patients.
Beyond being a dedicated physician, David is a grounded, principled, and sociable individual who brings positive energy wherever he goes. His warm and kind-hearted personality quickly endeared him to his fellow students and new friends. With a unique combination of professionalism, a strong sense of mission, and a deep love for people, David is undoubtedly an inspiring figure on his journey to becoming a fully recognised Israeli doctor.

What inspired you to make Aliyah, and what does it mean to you personally to live and work in Israel?
As a Jew, I believe it is important to live in Israel. This is where I feel I truly belong, both personally and professionally. Making Aliyah was a natural decision for me—it’s about fulfilling a lifelong dream.
How has the Jewish Agency and Keren Hayesod-UIA supported you throughout your Aliyah journey?
The Jewish Agency played a crucial role in my Aliyah process. They helped me translate my diplomas and navigate the complex process of becoming an Israeli doctor. They helped me find an Ulpan, where I currently learn Hebrew, and after that they will help me find a professional Ulpan which is essential for my medical career in Israel.
In what ways has the Jewish Agency and Keren Hayesod-UIA helped you professionally as a doctor in Israel?
One of the biggest challenges for doctors making Aliyah is getting their medical credentials recognised. The Jewish Agency and Keren Hayesod-UIA provided invaluable support in helping me translate my diplomas and guiding me through the entire licensing process with the Ministry of Health and the Israeli Medical Association.
Their assistance made it much easier for me to continue my medical career here in Israel. I’m incredibly grateful for the support I received, especially with my medical licensing. Making Aliyah today is much easier thanks to how well the Jewish Agency and Keren Hayesod-UIA work together!
