Youth Futures is Keren Hayesod-UIA’s national-scale response to the needs of children growing up in Israel’s social and geographic periphery. The program supports 6–13 year olds and their families with long-term, personalised interventions designed to break the cycle of disadvantage.
Each year, more than 12,000 children across 36 locations are matched with dedicated mentors who walk alongside them for three years, providing stability, support and a tailored path forward.
At the centre of the Youth Futures program are the mentors: professionally trained, full-time guides who each support up to 16 children at a time. Mentors assess each child’s home, school and social environment, then develop a detailed and specific plan to help close educational and emotional gaps. They also work directly with families to build stronger support systems at home.
Mentors coordinate with families, schools and social workers to ensure the child is surrounded by consistent guidance and encouragement. Children are linked with community services, enrichment programs and social opportunities that build confidence and help them flourish both in and out of school.
Operating in [148 schools across 36 Israeli cities and towns,] Youth Futures creates ripple effects beyond the child. Parents receive tools to better support their children, schools report higher engagement, and entire communities benefit from stronger, more connected families.
Years after completing the program, alumni report improved self-esteem, a stronger sense of purpose, and better outcomes in education and work. For many, their mentor remains a lifelong role model. Youth Futures is the only national program in Israel providing such intensive, long-term support to at-risk children and their families.

In the aftermath of October 7, Youth Futures mentors became first responders in the lives of children affected by the conflict. They provided immediate emotional support, re-established routines, and continued delivering care in shelters, hotels and temporary housing.
Mentors helped families navigate trauma, reconnect with services, and regain a sense of stability amidst chaos. For many children, their Youth Futures mentor was the first adult who made them feel safe again. The program remains a critical layer of resilience as Israel recovers.
