This June, the United Israel Appeal is committed to delivering tailored therapeutic sessions for children and their families in need of healing post-October 7 at the Keren Hayesod-UIA supported ADI Negev Nahalat Eran Rehabilitation Village. 

Established in 2005, the Village- the first of its kind in southern Israel- delivers innovative therapies, cutting-edge rehabilitation programs and revolutionary recovery services to empower Israel’s most vulnerable citizens, primarily those living with or touched by disability as well as patients recovering from serious illness, accident or terror attack.

Addressing the Recovery Needs

Following October 7, hundreds of children and families living along the Gaza border are in serious need of support to overcome their unimaginable trauma. In response, the ADI Rehabilitation Village will activate its existing resources, professional staff and operational expertise to treat the needs of such families and prevent PTSD through a unique resilience-building program.   

Specialised Therapies Offered Through The Resilience Program

The resilience program offers an emotional and therapeutic framework designed to help overcome post-trauma issues, including anxiety, behavioural challenges, feelings of isolation and loss of control. Therapies delivered through the program include:

“Facing selective mutism following October 7, my daughters sat quietly in the first session, not responding to questions or participating in the group discussion. 

While they played with rabbits, the therapist facilitated a group discussion about resilience and ways to cope with fears. When it was my girls’ turn to share, the physical interaction with the rabbits gave them the confidence and reassurance to allow them to feel safe enough to speak up and share their feelings. 

This was the first time since the outbreak of the war that my daughters have spoken to anyone outside of our family or a familiar environment.”
